Wyndham Clark breaks driver in hilarious outburst during PGA Championship

Wyndham Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, had a dramatic meltdown during the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

Hoping to make a strong push at the season’s second major, the 31-year-old American struggled to gain momentum over the weekend. His frustration reached a boiling point on the par-4 16th hole when a tee shot found the fairway bunker. In response, Clark whipped around and smashed his driver against the ground, shattering it in anger.

He ended up bogeying the hole—his second in a row—and finished the round with a 3-over 74, ending the tournament at 4-over par. He shared that score with LIV player Tom McKibbin, two-time Open Champion Collin Morikawa, and South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Clark’s outburst was just one of several fiery moments from top players in Charlotte. Shane Lowry tore up turf after being denied relief and criticized an ESPN reporter for getting too involved in his ruling dispute.
