Max Verstappen, the Red Bull driver, has openly stated his lack of enthusiasm for the upcoming F1 film featuring Brad Pitt. Despite the movie’s close ties to Formula 1 and influence from Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen, known for his direct approach, has expressed disinterest, criticizing the film’s fictional and overly dramatic depiction of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton’s F1 film revolves around Brad Pitt’s character, a retired F1 driver returning to mentor a teammate. Filmed during actual F1 race weekends, starting with the 2023 British Grand Prix, the production aimed for authenticity.
Verstappen, while acknowledging Brad Pitt’s acting prowess and appreciating behind-the-scenes footage from the US Grand Prix, remains uninterested in watching a dramatized portrayal of his own sport. In an interview with F1.Verstappen elaborated on his perspective.
Despite enjoying films and recognizing Brad Pitt as a superb actor, he mentioned watching clips from the new F1 film before the US Grand Prix. While finding it interesting, he emphasized his lack of personal interest in such fictionalized depictions of Formula 1, noting the inherent over-dramatization in such productions.
The Dutch driver’s approach aligns with his earlier stance on Netflix’s Drive to Survive series, from which he distanced himself for a period. Following his first Drivers’ Championship win, Verstappen returned to the docuseries after addressing concerns with the production team regarding false narratives and exaggerated portrayals of situations.
