Rory McIlroy Fires Back at DeChambeau’s Claim of Being Ignored During Masters Final Round

Rory McIlroy has addressed Bryson DeChambeau’s recent comments suggesting he was snubbed during the final round of the 2025 Masters, delivering a sharp yet focused response.

DeChambeau had remarked that McIlroy didn’t speak to him at all during the decisive round, where the Northern Irishman clinched his long-awaited green jacket in dramatic fashion—securing a playoff victory over Justin Rose and completing the career Grand Slam.

When asked about the situation ahead of the PGA Championship, McIlroy didn’t mince words. “I don’t know what he was expecting,” he said. “We’re out there trying to win the Masters. I’m not trying to be his best mate during that.”

He clarified that there was nothing personal behind the silence. “Everyone prepares and competes differently. I was completely focused on my own game and what I needed to do. That’s all it was—just doing what I felt gave me the best chance to succeed.”
