Sepp Straka holds off Shane Lowry to win fourth PGA Tour title at Truist Championship

Sepp Straka emerged victorious at the 2025 Truist Championship, fending off fierce competition from Shane Lowry to claim his fourth PGA Tour title. The Austrian golfer showcased poise and precision throughout a dramatic final round at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, finishing two strokes ahead at 16-under-par.

Straka and Lowry began Sunday tied at 14-under, setting the stage for an intense head-to-head battle. Straka gained early momentum with a spectacular 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 fifth hole, followed by consecutive birdies on the 8th and 9th. However, back-to-back bogeys on the 10th and 11th briefly halted his surge, allowing Lowry to pull even.

The decisive moment came on the 16th hole when Lowry missed a critical par putt, giving Straka a slim one-shot lead. The final hole saw both players in trouble—Straka landed in a fairway bunker, while Lowry’s drive ended up in a hospitality area. Straka managed to recover with a steady par, while Lowry faltered with a three-putt bogey, sealing Straka’s triumph.

Justin Thomas also made a late push with a closing 67 to tie Lowry for second place at 14-under. Defending champion Rory McIlroy wrapped up the tournament tied for seventh at 10-under.

Straka’s win, his second of the season following January’s American Express title, earned him $3.6 million from the event’s $20 million purse. The victory is expected to move him into the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking, reinforcing his status as one of the Tour’s top talents heading into the PGA Championship.
