Tommy Fleetwood and his wife Clare have a 23-year age gap – but they haven’t let that stop them from building a strong relationship with each other and their children
Tommy Fleetwood of England poses with his wife Clare Fleetwood after his third round of the Dubai Invitational at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on January 13, 2024 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Tommy Fleetwood was met with a blunt three-word retort from now-wife Clare when he first expressed romantic interest in her – due to their 23-year age gap.
The couple initially crossed paths in 2015 when Clare approached Tommy with a business proposition to become his agent. However, when he suggested they take things to a more personal level, her response was a dismissive “don’t be stupid”.
Clare, who is 56, admitted that she rejected the world number 13 golfer’s advances at first, citing the considerable age gap as her main concern. As per The Sun, Clare confessed: “We’ve got a 23-year age difference. Of course, I turned him down. I was like ‘don’t be stupid’.”
Despite the initial rejection, Tommy, 33, remained persistent and eventually won Clare over. She continued to manage his professional career even as their personal relationship blossomed, reports the Express.

The couple exchanged vows in 2017, making Tommy the stepfather to Clare’s two children, Oscar, 17, and Mo, 16. They also share a six-year-old son named Frankie.
While Tommy acknowledges that their unconventional family structure has raised some eyebrows, he insists that they are an incredibly close-knit unit.
During an appearance on Barstool Sports’ podcast, Fore Play, Tommy shared: “The whole family – we’re unbelievably close. There’s Oscar and Mo and they are the two older ones and then there’s Frankie.

“And, you know, honestly, it’s funny because whenever anybody asks, so people that don’t know you they’ll always say, ‘Do you have kids? ‘ And, pretty much all the time I’ll say ‘yeah, I have three kids’ and they’ll go, ‘How old are they? ‘ And I’ll say ’17, 16 and six’. And then you get the look.
“So then, I’m like, well I’m not that old, so then I’ll have to explain that the first two are step-kids which, honestly, I don’t really, I never really think of them as step-kids. I’ve been around them a long time now.
