LIV GOLF PRO GOES ON FURIOUS RANT: “I DON’T NEED TO WIN AGAIN”

Ian Poulter has blasted his critics for reminding him how poorly he has performed in the LIV Golf League with the Majesticks in 2024.

Ian Poulter has suggested his critics go ‘seek help’ after his struggles for form in the LIV Golf League continued.

The Englishman finished 35th in Singapore over the weekend as Brooks Koepka claimed his fourth LIV title before declaring golf is ‘easy’ again.

Poulter has only posted one top-10 finish this season and his frustrations don’t end there as his Majesticks team sit second bottom on the standings.

In a furious rant posted onto his Instagram page, Poulter blasted: “I don’t need to win again.

“However I will, and those who don’t think or believe or feed negativity on here need to look in the mirror as they are probably hiding behind some issues.

“So please go seek help or consult in good friends.

“Having belief and drive and the will to succeed keeps us all working harder. Be happy, spread some happiness in some way. I promise it will help.”

Poulter urged his critics to look at the bigger picture, pointing to the success of his Little Sticks initiative to help more young people get into golf.

He added: “Whilst team @majesticksgc performance on the course isn’t very good at the moment, which some of you keep telling me, it’s not always what’s being done on the course that’s the full picture.

“I’m extremely proud of our franchise and our #littlesticks program within our team.

“Building a curriculum for schools to help those who have never picked up a club or would ever be exposed to golf and those children with various disabilities is fantastic to see.

“Our feedback and our data is proving we can make a difference to many of these kids.

“You don’t always have to win to win. And whilst we improve others we continue to try and improve our own performance levels.

“And I have faith that this team will produce soon enough on all levels.”

Poulter’s teammates are Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson and Sam Horsfield.

Westwood, Stenson and Poulter are co-captains.

Poulter’s rant came on the same day two of his peers received shock invites to the forthcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla.

Talor Gooch, LIV’s individual champion in 2023, was invited to tee it up in the second major of the year next week.
