Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are each just one title away from achieving the prestigious Career Grand Slam. Alcaraz, needing only an Australian Open title, could become the youngest man in the Open Era to complete the feat if he wins it in the next two years—beating Rafael Nadal’s 2010 mark of 24 years old. Sinner, on the other hand, is missing a French Open title and will be older than Nadal if he manages the win next summer.
In the 2025 Wimbledon final, the two rivals posed with their trophies once again, having now split the last two editions. Alcaraz has won the US Open (2022), two French Opens (2024, 2025), and two Wimbledons (2023, 2024). His best result in Australia so far has been reaching the quarterfinals in the past two seasons.
Sinner boasts titles from Wimbledon (2025), the US Open (2024), and back-to-back Australian Opens (2024, 2025). He came close to his first Roland Garros title this year but lost a gripping final to Alcaraz after failing to convert three championship points.
Since the Open Era began, only five men—Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Rod Laver (whose Grand Slam straddled both eras)—have completed the Career Grand Slam. Nadal was the youngest at 24, while others like Agassi and Djokovic were 29 when they sealed the achievement.
If Alcaraz wins in Melbourne soon, he’ll rewrite history books. Sinner can also join the elite list next year, though he won’t beat Nadal’s age record. Notably, their current dominance is remarkable—they’ve split all seven Grand Slam titles since the 2024 Australian Open.
If one of them wins the upcoming US Open, they’ll replicate a rare feat last seen in 2006–07, when Federer and Nadal collectively claimed all four Slams over two consecutive years—a testament to how Alcaraz and Sinner are redefining this era in men’s tennis.
