Hard to Manage”: Badosa Opens Up About Blurred Personal-Professional Life

Paula Badosa has candidly shared the emotional toll her celebrity status has taken on her personal life, revealing the difficulty of keeping her private and professional worlds separate. The Spanish tennis player, currently recovering from a recurring lower back injury, spoke openly about the pressures that come with fame.

The 27-year-old has struggled with back issues throughout her career, most recently being forced to withdraw from her Miami Open match against Alexandra Eala and skip the Madrid Open entirely. Despite her absence from the court, Badosa appeared publicly with her partner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, at the Laureus Sports Awards on April 21.

In a May 3 interview with Eurosport, she discussed how fame adds an extra layer of pressure for athletes. Badosa explained that while actors might expect public scrutiny, athletes often don’t realize how exposed their lives will become. She noted that being a public figure involves a constant stream of obligations—events, galas, and sponsor commitments—which can be overwhelming.

Badosa also acknowledged that her relationship with fellow tennis star Tsitsipas further blends her personal and professional lives, complicating her efforts to find balance. She expressed a desire to separate those aspects, but admitted it’s often difficult given the circumstances.

In the same interview, Badosa emphasized her determination to overcome her chronic injury, saying she won’t consider quitting unless medically advised to do so. She’s willing to endure pain and continue with treatments, including injections, to remain in the game.

Badosa remains focused on recovery, aiming to return in top form for the upcoming Roland Garros tournament.
