Hear what Tiger woods Just said about 2024 PNC championship

Tiger Woods remains undecided about participating in the 2024 PNC Championship with his 15-year-old son, Charlie Woods, scheduled for December 21-22. The golf legend, who turns 49 on December 30, shared his latest thoughts during the final round broadcast of his Hero World Challenge in The Bahamas.

Woods, a 15-time major champion, joined NBC Sports’ commentary team to discuss the event at Albany. He was unable to compete in his Hero World Challenge due to recovery from back surgery, the sixth such procedure in his career, performed in September. He emphasized that he would not return to the PGA Tour until confident in his ability to compete at the highest level.

The PNC Championship, however, presents a more relaxed environment. As a non-PGA Tour event, it allows players to use golf carts, and the two-day scramble format makes it less physically demanding. When asked about his plans by NBC host Dan Hicks, Woods coyly responded, “We’ll see,” without confirming either way. He mentioned that Charlie was currently playing in a tournament, and he was eager to check on his son’s progress.

Woods also praised World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who was on track to defend his Hero World Challenge title. Calling Scheffler’s game “so consistent,” Woods highlighted his exceptional iron play and ability to hit the ball pin-high regularly. Scheffler has had a remarkable 2024, securing his second major win at The Masters, seven PGA Tour titles, and a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Looking ahead, Woods expressed excitement for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Although he declined the captaincy role, he acknowledged Keegan Bradley’s desire for him to contribute to the U.S. team. Woods noted the electric atmosphere the venue is known for and hinted at his involvement in some capacity.

Woods also confirmed his participation in the TGL, a tech-driven indoor golf league co-founded with Rory McIlroy. Originally set to debut in January 2024, the league’s launch was postponed by a year due to structural issues at the SoFi Center.

While fans are eager to see Woods return to competition, his potential appearance at the PNC Championship remains uncertain.
