Jim Furyk reveals why Keegan Bradley was removed as a vice captain of the President Cup and why he will be treated more of a player

Jim Furyk will lead Team USA at the 2024 Presidents Cup at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada. Initially, Keegan Bradley was announced as the playing assistant captain of the squad, but Jim Furyk decided to treat him just as a player and not give him any additional responsibilities.

In a recent interview, Jim Furyk explained this decision and said it would be a bit unfair on Keegan to have him focus on two things (from 1:24).

“I’ve talked to Keegan in the last couple of days and well definitely he’s going to be treated a lot more like a player than an assistant captain,” Furyk revealed.

“There’s a lot that goes into the preparation as a player getting ready for the golf course, getting ready for your pairings, golf balls, matches. It’s a little unfair to him to then try to drag him out of his preparation as a player and then put him in a team room, you know, captain-wise to make some decisions,” the Team USA skipper said.

Jim Furyk revealed Keegan Bradley has agreed to this as he believes it’s in his best interest as a player, and they are on the same page.

“So he agreed that was probably his best interest as a player and we’re all on the same page. And then we’ll circle back with him later on and kind of tell him how we got to certain points and decisions made and help as best we can for him next year in Ryder Cup,” Jim Furyk concluded.
