Matt Fitzpatrick Reveals Reason why he withdraw from the 2024 Paris Olympics?

With the third round of the men’s individual stroke play event at the 2024 Paris Olympics complete, Matt Fitzpatrick is tied for 53rd place in the 60 player field with a 54 hole score of five over par. After rounds of two over par 73, and an impressive seven under par 63 score, the Great Britain representative went on to shoot ten over par 81 during the third round.

Following the completion of his penultimate round, the former US Open winner has withdrawn from the 2024 Paris Olympics, citing an injury to his right thumb. Prior to the start of the tournament, a statement from the International Golf Federation had revealed that Fitzpatrick would be competing with a strain on the finger.

On his Olympics debut, Fitzpatrick was only six shots behind the leaders after an impressive second round score of seven under par 63. Despite the news of him withdrawing, Great Britain still has an incredible chance at earning the gold medal in golf at the Paris Olympics as Tommy Fleetwood sits in solo third place, just one stroke behind leaders Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele.
