Lewis Hamilton has been called to the stewards at the Austrian Grand Prix after an unsafe release during the final section of qualifying.
Lewis Hamilton has been called to see the stewards for an unsafe release during the final part of qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix.
The rule in question is Article 34.14 a) which states “cars must not be released from a garage or pit stop position in a way that could endanger pit lane personnel or another.”
The Mercedes driver was seen leaving the garage for his first run in Q3 with the rear jack attached to the back of the car.
The camera caught him as the piece of equipment fell off the back of his W15 and onto its side.
The 39-year-old qualified in fifth position for the grand prix at the Red Bull Ring, but Mercedes will have to explain the incident in front of the FIA
