Fan Reactions

Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open at the weekend as he propelled himself back into the top ten in the world.

The OWGR rankings have been punishing LIV Golf stars in recent times but with DeChambeau winning at Pinehurst and finishing second at Valhalla, he’s moved right back up to tenth.

Of course, he’ll probably drop back down those rankings unless he produces a fine performance in The Open, as PGA players have the chance to add more points to their total on the PGA Tour and more.

At the moment, the world number one is Scottie Scheffler by some distance.

Bryson DeChambeau explains if he feels he’s the best golfer in the world right now

Speaking to the press ahead of taking part in LIV Nashville this week, DeChambeau explained his feelings on being the top player around right now.

“Even though the OWGR didn’t reflect I was number one in the world (when he won two FedEx Cup events back in 2018), I sort of felt like the way I was playing reflected where I felt I could win one week, then I could win again and again,” DeChambeau said.

“And now it’s kind of the same thing. I sort of feel right now that the stats reflect purely what it shows exactly. Being tenth is awesome, from only playing a few events.

“Am I the best in the world? It’s not for me to decide. I’m just going to play the best golf I can and try to get that ball in the hole quicker than everyone else. I’m not going to put a label or title on myself, that’s not what I do.
I’m here to play the best golf I can and inspire others and give people some great entertainment.”

But much respect…I definitely appreciate it

How fans reacted

“I’ve decided. Yes he’s better than Scottie rn,” wrote a fan.

“Hilarious. He’s nowhere near #1,” jotted another fan.

“Scottie and arguably Xander have played better golf than him this year,” commented another fan.

“The US open results would say he is currently the US Champion and best player until next year,” yet another fan commented
