Rory McIlroy refused to talk to the media after his latest major heartbreak at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2 in North Carolina. The world number three reportedly refused to take part in any media interviews after his latest major heartbreak.
McIlroy, 35, appeared to have his fifth major title in his hands on Sunday at Pinehurst No.2. But nerves appeared to get the better of the Ulsterman once again when it mattered most. McIlroy made bogey on three out of the final four holes. And he watched in anguish from the scorer’s hut as his LIV Golf rival Bryson DeChambeau produced one of the most remarkable up-and-downs from the fairway bunker in recent memory to save par at the 72nd hole and pip the Northern Irishman by one shot. DeChambeau later told of how it was the greatest shot he has ever hit. It capped off an enthralling Sunday that was filled with drama. Footage has now emerged of McIlroy making his swift exit in North Carolina, courtesy of Barstool Sports’ Riggs.

But he reportedly wept in his wife Erica Stoll’s arms as he was whisked away in a golf buggy. McIlroy will have one more chance to break his major drought at next month’s Open Championship at Royal Troon.
