The 2024 US Open is all set to be held from June 13, but Jon Rahm’s participation currently stands in jeopardy. Jon Rahm decided to withdraw from the 2024 LIV Golf Houston event during the Saturday round, citing a foot injury. The injury has since then been a cause of concern for the golfer.

Jon Rahm did not show up for the first two practice days of the US Open, raising doubts about his participation in the major event. However, Rahm is now at the Pinehurst Golf Course, and preparing to play.

While his foot injury is doing better, it is still sensitive and needs to be looked after. Giving an update about his injury in the pre-tournament press conference, Jon Rahm said (via SB Nation):

“The infection was the worrisome part. The infection is now controlled, but there’s still swelling and there’s still pain.

There’s a reason I walked out here in a shoe and a flip-flop, trying to keep the area dry and trying to get that to heal as soon as possible. But I can only do what I can do. The human body can only work so fast.”

Jon Rahm said that he withdrew from the LIV Golf Houston event as a precaution, even though he could have finished the tournament and dragged on to get a score.

He explained the injury as a lesion and said that despite taking an injection to reduce the pain, he has been in considerable turmoil.

But definitely still in pain. I think that the closest term would be a lesion on the skin,” Rahm said. “If I were to show you, there’s a little hole between my pinky toe and the next toe. I don’t know how or what happened, but it got infected. The pain was high.”

Rahm said that he did not feel particularly confident going into the 2024 US Open. His injury had an impact on his golf swing, which also started affecting other parts of his body.

“It was getting to a point where I wasn’t making the swings I wanted to make, and I could have hurt other parts of my swing just because of the pain. As to right now this week, I don’t know,” he added.
