LIV Golf has announced the venue for its 2024 team championship – and golf fans around the world have highlighted one significant error.

The breakaway league confirmed on Wednesday that Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas, would be the venue for the season finale from September 20-22.

Speaking on the latest news, Greg Norman has expressed his delight at the venue and insisted the championship would be an excellent experience for the Fort Worth natives.

“Texas is legendary for producing and hosting great golfers who set a high bar while competing for championships,” he told LIV Golf’s website. “Our LIV Golf Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club will be a great experience for our players and all the fans in attendance.”

However, as highlighted by several fans, LIV may have made one massive mistake

Several golf fans have highlighted a scheduling error, with the team championship falling in the middle of the college football season. Furthermore, the Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL, meaning the attendance at Maridoa could be impacted.

One X user, Greg Marthaler, said: “Sorry, the Cowboys play the Ravers at 3:25 on that Sunday.”

Another also highlighted the conditions in Texas in September: “LIV is bad at scheduling. Will be 90+ degrees in Dallas, Texas Rangers have a 3 game home series that weekend, Dallas Cowboys play at home, both Texas and Texas A&M have home games, TCU plays at SMU, Friday night high school football just starting. Nobody will be there.”

EJ Miller added: So they’re playing in Dallas…on a Sunday with/ Cowboys football? TCU (& college FB in general) on Saturday? Rangers BB that weekend. Might as well toss in high school football on Friday. The draw for LIV will be extremely small if any at all. Should have looked outside the US.”

Finally, another fan added: “The Cowboys play the Ravens at home on the 22nd. You’re basically trying to attract fans in a football capital against one of the biggest games that week. That’s just stupid.”

This isn’t the first time LIV’s scheduling has angered fans
Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first time LIV Golf’s scheduling has angered fans.

After announcing their venue for the end-of-season individual championship, the golfing world was quick to ridicule Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago.

It’s important to remember the league is still in its developmental stages. Norman and Co. will no doubt learn from mistakes along the way.

For now, it’s unclear what attendance will be like at the season-ending championships. Should LIV’s gate receipts take a hit, those at the top of the organisation are unlikely to make the same error again
