Max Homa Details Unique Masters Experience Tiger Woods Has Given Him
Max Homa has explained his unique Masters experience after playing in the same group as Tiger Woods for the first two days at Augusta and what the golf legend has shown him
Tiger Woods continues to impress, as even his peers were amazed by his form at the Masters on Friday.
Add Max Homa as another one of the golf legend’s peers who have been left in awe by his ability, especially after everything he has worked through in recent years. Woods finished the day on one-over-par to make a 24th consecutive cut at Augusta.
Speaking to reporters on Friday after his round, Homa explained what it was like being in the same group as Woods, 48. “It’s hard to put into words,” the 33-year-old, who is chasing his first major title, said. “You feel the crowd on every shot.
“At times, I just look over and enjoy myself as a fan. He’s swinging it great. He looks so much better. It’s just awesome to watch.”
Homa described being able to play with Woods as something out of a “dream” and will be a moment he comes back to, considering how big of an inspiration Woods is. “It was awesome, man,” he added. “It was just a dream to get to play with him here. You know, I’ve been saying I’ve always wanted to just watch him hit iron shots around here and I was just right up next to them. It was really cool.”
The star also noted how he observed Woods during a particularly windy afternoon and it appeared as if the golf legend was unfazed. “On 18, we got sandblasted for like, 45 seconds, and I turned around five times so I didn’t get crushed in the face,” Homa recalled.
“And I just look back and he’s just standing there like a statue and then poured it right in the middle. So all the cliches you hear about him and all the old stories about how he will grind it out, it’s fun to see that in person.”
