Rory McIlroy is missing the green jacket from his iconic collection of golf awards and accolades – and Tiger Woods has weighed in on his chances of winning the Masters
Tiger Woods backed Rory McIlroy to win the Masters and join him in the exclusive club of career Grand Slam winners.
The American superstar is one of only five men to ever win all four of the Majors. World No.2 McIlroy won the third leg by claiming the 2014 Open and will tee up on Thursday for the 10th time bidding to complete the full set.
And Woods, who accomplished the feat at his first attempt at the 2000 Open, said: “No question, he’ll do it at some point. Rory’s too talented, too good. He’s going to be playing this event for a very long time. He’ll get it done. It’s just a matter of when.
“But, yes, I think that Rory will be a great Masters champion one day, and it could be this week. You never know. I just think that just, again, the talent that he has, the way he plays the game and the golf course fits his eye, it’s just a matter of time.”
