It seems Jon Rahm is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding the LIV team. The potential addition of Tony Finau and Tyrrell Hatton adds an intriguing element to the mix. Finau’s response suggests there might be some discussions happening behind the scenes.
The photo captures Jon Rahm and Tony Finau on the 18th hole during the third round of the 2023 Northern Trust at Liberty National.
During a Zoom call, I asked Rahm if he would take over an established LIV team or start a new squad. Rahm’s response was, “We’re just gonna have to wait and see,” accompanied by a coy smile. LIV’s threesomes shotgun start format allows for only three more teams.
After Rahm’s signing, reports surfaced about Finau and Hatton potentially joining Rahm’s side. Finau, questioned at the Grant Thornton Invitational, remained tight-lipped: “I have nothing to say right now. I haven’t heard anything. When asked about his name floating around, Finau responded, “No, not yet. I haven’t let anything marinate other than just playing right now.”

They expanded their roster for the current season by acquiring Harold Varner III through an offseason trade with RangeGoats GC, where Peter Uihlein was exchanged.
Following their victory in the team championship at the LIV Golf Invitational in Miami on October 22, 2023, Charles Howell III, Captain Bryson DeChambeau, Anirban Lahiri, and Paul Casey of Crushers GC celebrated their success at Trump National Doral Miami.

While Anirban Lahiri was the only player with an expiring contract, he opted to extend his stay with the team during the offseason. Charles Howell III and Paul Casey continue to be under contract.
On the 12th green during the initial round of the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba on November 4, 2021, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Sergio Garcia engaged in a fist bump with Carlos Ortiz.

However, Ortiz was subsequently traded to Torque GC, aligning himself with a squad rich in Latin American talent. In exchange, the Fireballs acquired David Puig, who now joins Eugenio Chacarra and Abraham Ancer on their roster.

(Photo by Cliff Hawkins/Getty Images)The complete team, including co-captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, alongside Henrik Stenson and Sam Hors field, is set to return. However, with the Majesticks finishing 11th out of 12 teams last season, just ahead of the last-place Iron Heads, there’s a notable question about the team’s continued effectiveness. A team overhaul might be worth considering for a much-needed refresh.
Bubba Watson, with a surprising move, overhauled the RangeGoats team that secured a runner-up spot at the team championship. In a swift series of transactions, top players Talor Gooch and Harold Varner III were traded for Matthew Wolff and Peter Uihlein. Despite these changes being perceived as downgrades, Thomas Pieters, who remains under contract, completes the new foursome. Pieters is now tasked with stepping up for the team in the upcoming 2024 season.
Captain Louis Oosthuizen is maintaining continuity as all four players, namely Branden Grace, Dean Burmester, and Charl Schwartzel, are set to return for the 2024 season, remaining under contract.
